Esguerra died following a collision on October 4, 2026, along Pine Valley Drive near Major Mackenzie Drive. She was reportedly walking northbound along the roadside when she was struck by a vehicle that left the scene.
Her death became the subject of a police investigation after her body was discovered on the roadside days later. Investigators subsequently identified a white Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van, believed to be a 2020–2022 model, as the suspect vehicle.
The investigation led to the identification of a suspect, with York Regional Police charging 41-year-old Kamel Hazime of Vaughan with failure to stop following an accident resulting in death. Police later confirmed that the suspected van had been located. The legal proceedings remain separate from the determination of responsibility.
Beyond the circumstances of her death, Esguerra is remembered through her work as a live-in caregiver. Her early life, family background, personal achievements and other details have not been publicly confirmed.
Her passing is a heartbreaking loss, particularly for those whose lives she touched through her caregiving work. As the investigation and legal process continue, her memory deserves to be honoured with dignity and compassion.
